Amber Aplin was born in Australia although she moved to Northumberland as a child. She went to school at Longridge Towers (many years ago). After studying dentistry at Newcastle, she graduated in 1998. Amber then spent the early part of her career with the Royal Army Dental Corps.

During her time in the Army, she gained the Diploma with the Joint Dental Faculties in London, graduating in 2002. After many years travelling the world treating Service personnel and their families, Amber decided to leave the Army. It was at this point that she settled in the Scottish Borders as an associate at The Gentle Touch. She undertook further postgraduate training, graduating with distinction in Primary Dental Care (advanced dentistry) diploma with the University of Edinburgh. In 2017, Amber became the proud owner of The Gentle Touch practice, taking over from Stuart Norman.

Amber Aplin enjoys getting to know patients and helping patients achieve the smile they want. Her particular clinical interests lie with smile design, the protection of teeth in a safe and aesthetic way. She also enjoys saving teeth with root canal and anything else that prolongs the life of teeth.

Amber is married to Matthew Aplin, owner of Kelso Health and Wellness (next door to The Gentle Touch). They have three children; Matilda, Monty and Bertie. Outside of dentistry, her passion lies with horses and she regularly competes in the local area.
