Teeth straightening treatment steps
If your teeth are suitable for this adult-friendly treatment, we record impressions, photos and other information. Special 3D technology is then used to create a personalised plan; this shows how your teeth will move and also how they will look after treatment. It’s incredible to see a 3D image of your teeth in their final positions before deciding to go ahead with treatment.
When the aligners are ready, you will wear a different one every week until the carefully controlled force shifts your teeth to a better position. You may initially feel very minor discomfort when a new aligner is fitted but this is usually just a feeling of pressure and a good indicator that the treatment is working.
Treatment times will vary most people on your individual issue, but most cases are completed in 6-9 months. As the aligners only work while you are wearing them, we recommend they are kept in place for approximately 22 hours per day.
Aftercare
Following treatment, as with all orthodontic methods, you will need to wear a night time retainer for 6 months. This will stop your teeth moving back to their original position (these special retainers are all included in the fee). In addition to this, the Gentle Touch practice also includes the cost of teeth whitening. We will do this during the last few weeks of treatment. This way, the final result will be beautifully straight and white teeth.
